The Ensemble
Discover Bell Durham
Bell Durham, founded in 2023, is Durham’s first community handbell ensemble. Using six octaves of handbells, handchimes, and various other instruments, the ensemble plays advanced music from around the world and across the musical spectrum including traditional handbell music, classical music arranged for handbells, pieces by modern handbell composers, and seasonal classics with a handbell twist. Handbell composer and clinician Mitchell Eithun serves as musical director.
Bell Durham’s mission is to be rooted in the community, sharing high-quality handbell music with audiences across the Triangle and Central North Carolina. Our full or small ensembles are available to play for your event throughout the year.

Ring with us
Membership
New members are eligible to join the ensemble at the beginning of each ringing term: August (Fall), January (Spring), and June (Summer). Membership is currently open to experienced ringers without audition. However, depending on the number of interested ringers, the music director my hold auditions for new ringers.
